Vampires And Narcissists

There is a strong correlation between the idea of the fictional Vampire and that of the Narcissist. It is so strong that I feel that the enduring popularity of Vampires is because of this link, and Narcissism may even represent an origin for the Vampire story in the first place, in metaphor at least.

So what do we know about Vampires; They pretend to be human, mixing and living among humans. They lie seduce and charm their prey in the beginning, but later react terribly if the victim tries to escape for they are nothing without someone to chew on and will wither. They are prideful, passionate lovers who stalk their partners and are possessive and protective of their food source, separating them from family and friends. They bite virgins and suck their blood to sustain themselves, they come out at night but during the day live in a coffin. They have no reflection in a mirror. They can transform into different creatures. They never grow old and never die, they are stuck at the age they were when they were turned and cannot grow/mature, unless they are exposed to hurtful sunlight or a stake is driven through their heart. They play games with their victim to keep them trapped and hate to be exposed. They drain a victim to within inches of death but keep them there, never allowing them to heal or to die. They act strong but are actually very weak. They turn others into vampires to join them in their blood sucking brady bunch. They love drama and showing off, and have big pointy teeth to inflict pain on their victim.

So let’s take these attributes one at a time and compare them to the Narcissist mindset.

– They pretend to be human, mixing and living among humans.
Well Narcissists are human but they are not like Empaths. they live among us and hiding in plain site to seek us out. They need the attention that an Empath can provide as that sustains their ego.

– They lie seduce and charm their prey in the beginning.
Narcissists can appear to be the nicest people you will ever meet, and they are often found in prominent positions of public office, at the head of businesses, and as famous actors. They will be in any position where they can show off and gain attention to feed their empty soul. When you meet one they will charm you with their beaming personality and shower you in gifts, and if you are an Empath they will try to seduce you for that sweet love and attention that you can provide so freely and deeply. They have a cohort of followers that will never speak bad of them (out of fear) and help them tell their lies. As an unknowing Empath you walk right into their trap.

– but later react terribly if the victim tries to escape.
A scorned Narcissist is an angry bitter person who will stop at nothing to gain revenge for your unwillingness to feed them. They may play the part of a martyr or belittle and put down their lover, they will mock them, and make them feel small and incapable, and they will shame them in front of their friends to bring them back in line. Narcissists will often entrap their prey, not allowing them freedom to see their friends and family, and maybe not even to leave the house. If you try to get away from a Narcissist it will be impossible, they know you have the tasty goods they desire and will pursue you until the end of time. They can kill in a fit of rage and turn from the sweet loving and caring person you thought they were, into a monster in the blink of an eye. There is no way of being civil with these people if you manage to escape, you must cut off all contact and never rise to their attempt to hoover you back in. Heaven forbid there are children in the relationship as they serve a dual purpose, firstly as an alternative food source, secondly as a new colleague if they can be turned, and lastly as a victim of revenge on the lover. The children will be abused by the Narcissist to get back at the lover for not giving enough, and of course the Empath will hate this and may even give in to the demands for feeding by the Narcissist.

– for they are nothing without someone to chew on and will wither.
If an Empath escapes and the narcissist cannot find another to feed from they will wither and fade away from public life. They will shrivel and hide in the metaphorical dark, afraid to come out and socialize. That charm and wit, will have gone, but they do not die. Instead they are hunting quietly for the next victim, they are searching for someone who will take pity on them and reach out to help. But as soon as they do the Narcissist begins to feed. The unwitting Empath will think they are helping as the narcissist begins to bloom once again, but in reality they are feeding the monster that will consume them.

– They are prideful, passionate lovers who stalk their partners and are possessive and protective of their food source.
Narcissists are full of false pride, they have a huge ego that protects them and they expect subservience from their lover. They are also incredibly insecure so they will follow and watch from a distance what their lovers are up to when they are not with them. As an Empath always expect your Narcissist partner to turn up unexpectedly wherever you are. When you are with them they will shield you from others, wanting you exclusively and will not let you socialize with others. Should you be talked to by another they will intervene and protect you from them. They are great in bed and will be generous lovers as a way to reel you in, however know that in time this will stop entirely when they get bored of you so don’t get used to it! They have this thing called a golden period where there is nothing they won’t do for you and they want you to feel special, but that fades with time and it turns into a thing called the “devaluing”

– separating them from family and friends.
Narcissists will seek to dominate you and isolate you from your family and friends, think of the stronghold of castle Dracula. This way they can have their way with you without being disturbed. As a precursor they will talk bad about your friends and family such that you begin to disassociate from them due to the love you have for the Narcissist.

– They bite virgins and suck their blood to sustain themselves.
Of course the bite of the Narcissist is the fuel they can get from an Empath in terms of love and compliments. They thrive on this attention and will wither without it. It also enhances their self image and feeds their giant ego. The best attention is from one who understands real love and believes in it wholeheartedly, the unspoilt virgin is the best for this as they have no experience of Narcissists and give all their love willingly and without provocation.

– they come out at night but during the day live in a coffin.
Narcissists thrive on attention and praise, now this doesn’t need to happen at night, so the times are metaphorical for energy. When they have a lot of energy they are the life and soul of the party, they crave attention and get it, and love it. But when they are low on energy they hide away, perhaps in the bedroom and won’t come out. This is maybe as a result of the amount of fuel they have been able to gather.

– They have no reflection in a mirror.
Again this is metaphor for ego, the Narcissist wouldn’t recognise themselves from others descriptions of them, they have a strong self image that cannot be broken by anyone, and if anyone gets close they react with anger to shut down any conversation on the topic. They of course look in mirrors and preen themselves there, but the reflection they see is not the same as you looking at them. They see perfection in every way, they see a person who can do no wrong, and is always right, a person that never has to apologise or admit defeat, they are a god.

– They can transform into different creatures.
Narcissists are real chameleons when it comes to behaving around different people, they can imitate and pretend to be different personalities and dress as other characters as they are basically actors. They are good at learning others strategies and using them against you, not always negatively. However like actors without a script they can easily get lost in a new situation, either emotionally or physically and this is a great weakness that Empaths do not have. For Narcissists familiarity and repetition is a safe space.

– They never grow old and never die, they are stuck at the age they were when they were turned and cannot grow/mature
Narcissists are stuck in one phase of life and they cannot grow beyond it, this is typically the stage when they were turned themselves. Maturity is an ongoing process for Empaths, but Narcissists need to maintain the image of themselves and greatly fear change, so they remain forever young in others eyes. They also will not consider that someone as great and worthy as them could ever face death, so they act like they are immortal which adds to the sense of them not growing or maturing, and they will never speak of death and hide from it in life pretending that it doesn’t exist.

– unless they are exposed to hurtful sunlight or a stake is driven through their heart
Vampires are burned by the sunlight and in the world of a Narcissist this is like being tortured by the truth. A little truth about their nature hurts, but a lot of truth could burn them to ash. So they shun the truth and cannot bear to hear it, so will act with anger to deter the truth coming out, but if it were ever to be revealed publicly that they were a Narcissist this would be the turning to ash moment for them. They are in self denial and very protective of that self image bubble they hold within. A stake to the Narcissist would be the loss of all sources of fuel and perhaps them becoming the fuel for other greater narcissists, that is the end for them and they will likely commit suicide as a way of garnering fuel after their death, even if it will do them no good!

– They play games with their victim to keep them trapped and hate to be exposed.
A narcissist is vindictive mean and cruel, they do not know how to be good as they have never felt what that was like to receive real credit for something they didn’t fake or steal. So instead they pick on others and bully to make themselves feel better about the twisted individual they are. Like a cat playing with a mouse it has caught they toy with their victim for their own pleasure until the victim dies. Of course if any part of this nature is exposed to the public they will be shamed and have to skulk off to somewhere that nobody knows them to start over. They of course never feel shame and don’t know how to have real emotions like love or happiness, and simply imitate how they’ve seen others act. Narcissists are empty of everything except hate and anger, and this is the only real emotion they have.

– They drain a victim to within inches of death but keep them there, never allowing them to heal or to die.
The best way for a Narcissist to extract fuel is to have a captured victim that they can squeeze for food. They will keep them in this bondage state until they either die or leave. Having a pet like this is the perfect state for them to exist in where they can go out and perform for the crowds in relative safety and in full confidence.

– They act strong but are actually very weak.
Narcissists present an effective confidence trick to the world and most of the time they get away with it, but it is just a trick and are actually tragically weak characters that cannot exist on their own two feet, they always need that food to sustain them. They also are deeply flawed characters that hate who they are, but they are powerless to do anything about it, so they live on in their horrible ways, pretending to the world that they are something they are not. Despite all the threats to an Empath that they will leave, of find someone else, they will not and this is where the Empath has strength to control the Narcissist and gain an upper hand.

– They turn others into vampires to join them in their blood sucking brady bunch.
A vampire hates to be alone and be the only man monster, so they do not kill all of their victims, but some they let join them in a poisonous gang and so it is for the Narcissists. There will be a head narcissist and a hierarchy below, and together they seek victims and live as a coterie. Misery does indeed love company.

– They love drama and showing off, and have big pointy teeth to inflict pain on their victim.
A Narcissist is a performer, a show off, and a drama queen for negative situations which they crave more than the positive ones. Something about the drama of a painful situation brings them better quality fuel than a happy occasion, so understand that if an Empath gets mixed up with a narcissist there will be more bad times than good. If they do not elicit the correct fuel positively then the Narcissist will bite with their sharp fangs to inflict pain and thus more fuel for themselves.

So I think I have successfully demonstrated that the Vampire is the fictional version of a Narcissist, and of course we all know that real vampires don’t exist and also that Narcissists don’t either, right? The mere idea of them being real, or perhaps being in a relationship with you, is like seeing a brief puff of smoke disappear on the wind.
