2000 years of human error, is an album title which always stuck with me and it’s true. The human male animal in power is as fragile, head strong, and stupid as any mad Roman emperor. They say that If you do not learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it, and it looks like this is true. We are at a fourth turning, a point where the weak men make hard times, and following a trend to a historical timeline crest for war. But why these cycles, and why are we letting megalomaniacs have power?
Is it because they seek it, and it is easier to let them do that because they want to and we do not? I mean, I know that the cleverest people are on the bottom rungs of power and have no desire to lead or gain power, but shit! The ones with the power are insane examples of stupidity. No long term thought is given, no look ahead to unintended consequences, just the quick win, the perceived hit and release of power exercised, and gloating on the world stage obtained. They would make terrible chess players!
It’s just awful in the world right now and in some imaginary Star Trek like episode I can really perceive the Aliens evaluating us from orbit, while observing our behaviour and writing up a report to the central galactic federation stating: Humans – still violent and aggressive, interstellar contact not recommended. Return again in 10 planet circumnavigations of their local star!
I despair at the state of humanity!
The Boomers it seems are having one last go at conquest before they pop their clogs, and the generation below are helping them! My generation is actually going along with the insanity. We X’ers were supposed to be different, yet here are again repeating history like NPC’s after a reboot. We face a world war again, and this time the bombs are bigger. Such retardation in our species’ development.
The human race is stuck in a cycle of behaviour that is toxic. Like is said in the movie Terminator 2 “It is in our nature to destroy ourselves”. Rapa Nui looks like it is a default setting for humanity, and before long some idiot will be launching the last remaining nuke. Not because it will do any good, but because he can and the button is before him!
This recent video perfectly illustrates the problem of petty men and power play. It’s ridiculous, immature, and bad for everyone around them, as are our leaders and their squabbles between nations over who is right, and who started it!
Where are the grown-ups?
What of the women then, the fairer sex? They all seem to be stuck in their lane too, much like the cleverest men. They are not in majority power and those that go there are as indistinguishable from men, such that they might as well be men themselves, such is the path of a woman in a man’s world, which sadly it appears to still very much be. So very few choose it.
The classic female approach to governing (motherhood) has yet to be seen on a modern world stage, and I would likely agree with the general trope of it being less aggressive posturing and more relationship based solutions. Sure there will be times when the fireworks fly, but this will likely be a war of words, and not as the men will have it; a 37 hour secret flight to drop the worlds biggest non-nuclear bunker busting bomb.
The only solution I can arrive at (probably because I’m a man) is to have a random limited term leadership team in each country. No elections, but random selection like a jury, and equal 50/50 male female selections, and no returns after their term is up. I believe in the wisdom of the crowd over expertise, as experts always fighting the last war! We are all human and all capable of making good and bad decisions, let’s not allow those who always make bad decisions lead us for any length of time. It seems even the best of them become corrupt so keep their game short and only once!
I know it takes time to work out if someone is good or bad, weak or strong, controlling or altruistic, but we can’t go on letting the traditional route to power and it’s inevitable corruption continue. We have gained much knowledge in the arena of leadership, but we fail to heed it and instead fall back on genetic memories of who will be good perhaps as a gut instinct and as a result of a confidence trick.
Stop it!
