We are all conscious to one degree or another, some of us are fully self aware and others are completely unaware of themselves, but we are all human and all have this thing that we call consciousness.

So what is consciousness? I would suggest that consciousness is our single greatest asset, evolutionary or otherwise. It is what makes it possible for us to build and think things bigger than our individual selves, to consider our genetics into the future, and to form societal bonds. But where does it come from?

I would define consciousness as the basic element of “aliveness”, and to answer where it comes from, we have to consider what being alive means? The term alive has among others the following definitions: “having life; living; existing; not dead or lifeless; full of energy and spirit; lively”. So being alive means to have stuff going on both physically and mentally. Now if this definition is applied to us, we can nod along in agreement. if you apply it to a dog, one might say something similar but less on the thinking front. Then to apply this to an ant, makes one struggle with the concept. Sure the ant can be considered alive, but to imbue it with consciousness is pushing it a bit.

To apply it to a rock just seems silly, but here’s the thing, unless we humans were dropped off on the planet Earth by a crashed ark ship, then we must have come from the planet as a child comes out of it’s mother. To echo Alan Watts here; as an apple tree apples, planet Earth peoples! So knowing that we are alive and we couldn’t come from a dead organism, then the Earth must also be alive. Now there is probably no issue with you thinking that the planet clearly has animals and insects, mushrooms and amoeba, trees and apples, and all of these are alive. But I would argue that like “aliveness” consciousness is present in all things.

The ramification of this little thought journey is that the aforementioned aliveness of nature, also means it is conscious. Maybe not to the extent that we are conscious, but like we know creatures are alive they must have some consciousness going on too. Going beyond then, the planet that spawned this nature must by deduction also be conscious! Now a planet consciousness might be something totally different to human consciousness, but following the logic of something cannot come from nothing, there is not only a likelihood for this, but also that consciousness must form part of us as it’s children.

Here’s where things get really weird then. If our planet is conscious of itself and maybe of us, then the other planets which are “alive” must also be conscious. And jumping completely into the rabbit hole now; the solar system is conscious and the galaxy too, the universe is conscious, and the multiverse as well! I understand that this may be hard to take in but if our consciousness takes up a small part of the universe’s consciousness, then to a galaxy we humans are like the ants are to us!

But remember we are searching for the source of consciousness here, so where is that? If everything is alive and conscious then the source will likely be what every lies at the center of the multiverse, and you may call it the brain of the multiverse; as we humans are familiar with the feeling of consciousness in our own heads.

Right, how does one prove any of this, As we have a part of this multiverse consciousness in us, then we can communicate with our conscious parent, and practices such as religion and spirituality can lead one to that experience. Well more than that, I know they can as it happened to me! How? you may ask, well it is not a verbal or a visual language that one can use, it is more like the suggestion from scientist Nikola Tesla; everything is frequency and vibration.

We are basically human radio transmitters and receivers, both broadcasting conscious messages and receiving them. Of course the majority don’t and can’t do this, but they still have this legacy attribute in them because of their heritage, and it is really only their egos stopping them from realising this, and they may subconsciously still do it without awareness. It is possible to have a frequency based conversation then with the universe, where you can ask things of it and it will respond, and the same in reverse.

We are all related after all, one big happy conscious family.

Finally, the source of your consciousness then, is the multiverse itself calling out to you from some central point as a mother would call out to their child from the kitchen, to come in from the cold garden.
