Unhealthy Obsessions:

For as long as i can remember, well since 1986 anyway, i have had this thing for one computer game; Outrun.
I have collected, played, listened to, and loved everything outrun. I don't really know what draws me to this particular game, whether it's the idea of driving a ferrari, the speed of the game, the music, the memories of playing it as a kid, or the combination of all, but i love this game. To this day i have still not completed all of the tracks, and have not seen all of the end animation sequences. I think the only other game that comes close to this for nostalgic factor is the original Sonic the Hedgehog game.
I will always remember this one time playing the game in the Marlborough NAAFI in Rhiendahlen, where these two older kids were stood over me as i played mocking me and laughing at the way I changed gear before 180mph, saying that it was slower. But what they didn't realise was that the wheels spinning up between gear changes was actually slower. I didn't complete the game on that go because of the intimidation but i think i earned their respect by the time I was done.

In the arcade the Game came in a number of guizes, the two most noticable ones were the stand up and the sit down cabinets:

The music from Outrun is amazing, and adds so much to the experience of the game:
STOP PRESS: There's a new Outrun!!!
In the arcades now and soon to be released on XBox and PS2 is Outrun2, how cool!
